Anybody have any experience with terrazzo floors? Ever since spending a few years in Italy, I've wanted something like this.

Hi izzy,

You don't give many details of the use it is destined for and probably it is exteriors but in case it were Tile for kitchen/bath you might want to check this out: http://www.porcelanosa-usa.com/home/products/terracotta.aspx

(It isn't the cheapest but it has good reputation).

Peace Wink ,

Thanks. For interior use. Something like this:

Sounds like serious work, though.

Have you looked at
http://www.saint-gobain-northamerica.com/about/businesses.asp

They have a division which carries similar products as what you are looking for.

Just another option.

I think that it is something that can be only be done by professionals. It involes laying in screed channels, pouring a special mix, grinding the surface down flat and polishing and sealing. A poor man's terrazzo is just ground, stained, polished and sealed concrete. You might be surprised how well that looks. Even that is probably not cheap. I vaguely remember getting a quote for $10k for about 700 SF. Maybe could have shopped it for better pricing, but went with slate instead. No cracks and it has been about 4 years.
